Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo has explained why he chose to commit his future to AFC Bournemouth, turning down reported interest from several Premier League giants.

The 25-year-old was reportedly on the radar of Manchester United, Liverpool, and Tottenham Hotspur during the summer transfer window following an impressive campaign that saw his stock rise sharply.

Despite the attention, Semenyo signed a contract extension keeping him at the Vitality Stadium until 2030.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he admitted there were discussions about a potential move but said the project at Bournemouth was too exciting to walk away from.

“There was a lot of interest and back-and-forth with the club [over a possible transfer],” he said. “But I knew in my head that the manager has something up his sleeve this year. How we finished the season last year was fantastic, and with the players we’ve brought in, we could continue that momentum.”

Semenyo reserved special praise for head coach Andoni Iraola, whose high-intensity philosophy has transformed the Cherries’ style of play.

“He’s unbelievable, honestly,” Semenyo added. “Once everyone got into his playing style, it’s been incredible. It’s just relentless, and everyone is fully invested.”

Semenyo played a key role in Bournemouth’s impressive league finish last season, scoring 11 Premier League goals. He has continued that form into the new campaign, netting six times in his first 10 matches.
