Black Stars defender Alidu Seidu has won the September Player of the Month award at Stade Rennais.

The Ghana international beat Ludovic Blas and Arnaud Kalimuendo to win the coveted award after securing the most votes from fans of the club. He succeeds Amine Gouiri, who won the award in August.

Seidu has been in fine form for the Red and Blacks this season, featuring in all four matches in the month of September.

The versatile defender ranks high in terms of blocks made this season, the 3rd Rennes player to have made the most interceptions and he is also among the top 20 Ligue 1 players in terms of ground duels won.

The JMG Academy product joined Stade Rennais in January from Clermont Foot and has since been an integral part of the team. Seidu has made six appearances in Ligue 1 this season.

The 24-year-old will be expected to start the next game against AS Monaco on Saturday before October’s international break.
