A young woman identified as Fearing Ive Blessing has been rescued by officers of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) after she was allegedly assaulted by a woman believed to be managing a sex work operation at Wassa Asikuma in the Amenfi East Municipality of the Western Region.

According to reports, the victim informed her madam that she no longer wished to continue in the trade. Her decision, however, infuriated the madam, who allegedly inserted pieces of paper into the victim’s private parts, mouth, and other areas of her body before physically attacking her.

An eyewitness, Obaa Yaa, who spoke with Rivers FM and Kings Jersey TV reporter Abrewa Nana Kwabena Tewiah Tikeseɛ, described the scene as heartbreaking.

“The girl said she didn’t want to do the work again, but the madam became very angry and started beating her. She forced paper into her body. We were all shocked and helpless until the Immigration officers came to rescue her,” Obaa Yaa recounted.

Officers from the Ghana Immigration Service, upon receiving a distress call, swiftly intervened and rescued Blessing from further abuse. Some of the madam’s close associates were also arrested to assist with investigations.

The victim has since been taken to a health facility for medical treatment and psychological support. The case has been handed over to the police for further investigations and possible prosecution.

The incident has sparked public outrage in Wassa Asikuma, with residents condemning the cruel act and calling for swift justice. Community members are also urging the Amenfi East Municipal Assembly and security agencies to intensify protection efforts for vulnerable young women against exploitation and abuse.
