Six players of Nsoatreman FC have been formally charged for breaching the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Disciplinary Code following their involvement in unsporting behaviour during the heated Ghana Premier League match between Nsoatreman and Asante Kotoko on February 2, 2025.
The players, Stephen Diyou, who was sent off during the match over a fight that broke out, Frank Dongballe, Abdul Rahaman Mohammed, Walid Neymar Fuseini, Mohammed Issaka, and Eric Osei Bonsu, have been charged under Section 12(1)(j) of the GFA Disciplinary Code, 2019, which addresses misconduct and unsporting behaviour.
The charges stem from their actions during the matchday 19 fixture, which saw a violent clash between the two teams at the Nana Konamansah II Park. The altercation led to the tragic death of a Kotoko fan, Nana Pooley, and sparked widespread outrage in the football community.
The players have been given until Wednesday, February 5, 2025, to respond to the charges. The GFA’s disciplinary committee is expected to investigate the incident and take appropriate action in accordance with the rules of the game.
This development comes amid ongoing efforts by the GFA and law enforcement to address the violent disturbances that marred the match and ensure that such incidents are not repeated in future fixtures.
