Pure FM Head of Sports, Bright Kankam Boadu was named the Sports Journalist of the Year at the 49th Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Awards night in Accra on Friday, January 24, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre.
The former Nhyira FM Head of Sports won the award ahead of Fentuo Tahiru, Bill Eshun, Kelvin Owusu Ansah and Janet Nana Akua Amankwaa.
On the night, Ghanaian high jumper Rose Amoanimaa Yeboah claimed top prizes at the event as she won the Female Athlete of the Year and Sports Personality of the Year titles.
On the same night, Barcelona B’s Abdul Aziz Issah took home the Prospect of the Year and Male Footballer of the Year awards.
The awards scheme, which is the longest-running event in the country, was held to award sportsmen and women who contributed immensely and brought honour to the country in the year 2024.
