Communications Director of Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum believes the Black Stars will need a positive result to turn the fortunes around.
The senior national team has been seriously scrutinised after failing to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament which is scheduled to be hosted in Morocco later this year.
After six games played, Ghana recorded three draws and three defeats during the qualifiers and finished at the bottom of Group F with just three points.
Despite the horrendous performance of the Black Stars, Asante Twum believes the team will need a positive result to turn around their fortunes.
“It is not the goal of anyone at the FA, whether at the leadership or staff level, to continue failing at the national team level, which is where we are now,” he told Kumasi-based Akoma FM.
“There is always an opportunity to correct your mistakes, and I know from the players to the technical team that, if Otto Addo stays, he has learned his lessons, and if he does not, I believe whoever comes in will have watched our matches and picked up some useful lessons to correct future mistakes.
“The recent events at Manchester City are beyond conception, but this is football, it only takes one excellent result to turn things around, and that is what we are focusing on,” he added.
The Black Stars will hope to improve their performance when they take on Chad and Madagascar in the Matchday five and six games of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers in March later this year.
