Mohammed Kudus to work under Graham Potter at West Ham after the former Chelsea manager was confirmed as the new Hammers boss on Thursday.
Potter, who endured a challenging tenure at Chelsea, returns to the Premier League tasked with reviving a struggling West Ham side. The club recently parted ways with Julen Lopetegui due to poor results.
Potter has signed a two-and-a-half-year contract and expressed his excitement at the new challenge. “It’s a proud day to be head coach of this amazing club. Big tradition, big history, big expectations, big challenge,” he said. “I’m really excited. It feels a bit like Christmas for the adults. I didn’t get the best of sleeps last night, just from excitement. I’m looking forward to meeting the players, our supporters, and getting started.”
West Ham currently sit 14th in the Premier League, seven points clear of the relegation zone, with only six league wins this season. This marks Potter’s first managerial role since being dismissed by Chelsea in April 2023.
The new manager will be counting on Mohammed Kudus, one of West Ham’s standout performers since joining from Ajax last summer. Despite early tension with Lopetegui, Kudus maintained his professionalism and has scored three goals this season. While the tally falls short of his impressive numbers last term, the Ghanaian forward remains a key player with the potential to thrive under Potter’s guidance.
Potter becomes Kudus’ third manager at West Ham, following David Moyes and Lopetegui.
