Inaki Williams has expressed his frustrations with refereeing during Athletic Bilbao’s Spanish Super Cup semi-final against Barcelona in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The Ghana international’s 86th-minute strike was ruled out following a Video Assistant Referee check as the Catalan giants progressed to the final with a 2-0 victory.

Gavi gave Barcelona an early lead after breaking the deadlock in the 17th minute before Lamine Yamal doubled the advantage after the break.

Williams, who was unhappy with the performance of referee Miguel Ortiz, felt Bilbao were treated as if they were playing away from home.

“It was like playing away from home,” he said in a post-match interview. “I find it strange that these types of plays are cancelled. I don’t think it’s fair,” added the striker.

“It seems that the rules are not the same for everyone.”

Barcelona will face the winner of the second semi-final between Real Madrid and Real Mallorca in the final.

Meanwhile, Williams has been a key figure in the ongoing campaign for the Rojiblancos, propelling them into the top four before the winter break.

The Black Stars player has netted five goals and delivered four appearances in 18 La Liga games this season.
