Nurudeen Amadu has cited a lack of motivation as the reason why he resigned from his role as head coach of FC Samartex.

The 54-year-old trainer on Tuesday, December 17 left his role after a torrid start to the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season.

In his debut season with the club, Amadu led the side to annex the 2023/24 Premier League title.

Speaking to MAX FM in an interview, Amadu revealed that he discussed with the president of the club, Dr Richard Diuah Nsenkyire about his decision to leave the club.

“He [Dr Richard Duah Nsenkyire] is a very kind and generous person who is also very understanding,” he said.

“I met with him on Monday on what he felt would help the team, which actually impressed me. Though he had been supportive, he tells me when I go wrong.”

He then revealed that the lack of motivation within the club was the reason behind his exit.

“If you are demotivated or not happy, then you’ll need to look elsewhere. Wherever you go, you’ll have to do your best,” Amadu stated.

Assistant coach, Henry Wellington is expected to take charge of the club in the interim.

FC Samartex, who lost 1-0 Heart of Lions in the Matchday 13 games will hope to return to winning ways when they travel to play Bechem United at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park in the Matchday 14 games this weekend.
