Black Stars coach Otto Addo is confident in his squad’s ability to secure a win against Sudan in their upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Ghana will face Sudan in both Matchday three and four of the qualifiers, with the first leg set for Thursday, October 10, and the return leg on October 14 at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya.
The four-time African champions are eager for victory after a shaky start to their campaign, having lost 1-0 to Angola and drawn 1-1 against Niger in their first two games.
Speaking ahead of the crucial first leg against Sudan, the 45-year-old coach expressed confidence in his team as they aim for their first win in the qualifiers.
“We have talented players, better footballers than them, so we need to win this game,” Addo stated.
However, despite his confidence in the quality of his squad, Addo remains cautious of the threat posed by Sudan, especially with experienced Ghanaian coach James Kwesi Appiah now leading the Sudanese side.
“We are fully aware of their strengths and capabilities, but we must stay focused and give our best effort,” he emphasized.
Ghana currently sits third in Group F with one point from two games. The match is scheduled to kick off at 16:00 GMT.
The Black Stars will continue their training session later today at the Accra Sports Stadium. Meanwhile, eight more players namely, Alexander Djiku, Tariq Lamptey, Alidu Seidu, Ernest Nuamah, Majeed Ashimeru, Lawrence Ati Zigi, Jerome Opoku, and Abdul Mumin have all joined the camp of the Black Stars.
