Popular Ghanaian media personality, King Kwasi Kyei Darkwah aka KKD, has voiced his strong criticism against the government’s extensive ministerial appointments.

According to him, Ghana would be a foolish country to allow the appointment of more than 60 ministers.

As of August 2024, Ghana has a total of 86 ministers. This includes both substantive ministers and their deputies.

However, in an interview with Accra-based 3FM on August 8, 2024, KKD highlighted the disparity between Ghana and China, noting that despite China’s vast population, it operates with only 20 ministries.

“If China, with this great population, has only 20 ministries, we are a very foolish nation if we allow any one of our citizens who we elevate into a position of authority to appoint anything more than 60 ministers,” KKD stated.

He argued that Ghana could be efficiently run with as few as 26 to 40 ministers, especially considering the roles of district and constituency chief executives.

KKD expressed his frustration with the current administration, accusing the president of being in a hurry
