Ghana’s revamped Black Stars technical team is determined to begin their tenure on a strong note as they prepare to face Chad in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday.

Following Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 AFCON, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) made key changes to the technical setup.

Veteran German coach Winfried Schäfer has joined as a technical advisor, Belgian sports psychologist Kris has been brought in to strengthen the team’s mental resilience, and Desmond Offei has been added as a second assistant coach.

They complement head coach Otto Addo, assistant coach John Paintsil, and goalkeepers’ coach Fatau Dauda in a restructured backroom staff.

The team has been training at the Accra Sports Stadium, with sessions focused on improving tactical discipline and team cohesion.

The new technical setup has brought renewed energy to the camp, and the players are keen to implement their strategies against Chad.

With back-to-back qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar, Ghana is aiming for maximum points to stay on track for World Cup qualification.
