Sudan’s national team head coach, Kwesi Appiah, has declared his side’s readiness to face any opponent at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

Under Appiah’s leadership, Sudan overcame significant challenges, including a civil war that forced the team to play all their qualifiers away from home, to secure a historic spot in Africa’s premier football competition.

Appiah, who formerly captained Ghana and coached the Black Stars at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, has instilled confidence and resilience in a team that has become a source of hope for its war-torn nation.

Sudan’s qualification, which came at the expense of Appiah’s home country, Ghana, underscores his tactical brilliance.

Ahead of the AFCON group stage draw on January 27, Appiah told CAF, “Once you’ve qualified for AFCON, as a coach, I don’t think you should have any preferences regarding who you’re drawn against.

“We must be ready to face anyone. If you fear any team, then you shouldn’t participate in the competition at all. The key is preparation and confidence.”

Sudan now aims to make an impact in Morocco, buoyed by Appiah’s determined leadership.
