Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams has hinted that he will engage the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on the future of Black Stars coach, Otto Addo.

Addo, 49, who was reappointed on a three-year deal in March 2024 has come under massive pressure after failing to steer the team to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

However, the hierarchy of the GFA has improved the technical team of the Black Stars ahead of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with the inclusion of German trainer and 2002 AFCON winner with Cameroon, Winfried Schaffer will serve as the technical advisor and football director for the Black Stars and the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

Kris Perquy will serve as the team’s psychologist, while Gregory De Grauwe will take on the role of video analyst.

Speaking to Asempa FM in an interview, Mr Adams said despite the decision to retain the former Borussia Dortmund assistant coach, he will engage the GFA to review the future to know if Otto Addo is the right person to lead the team.

“We will engage the GFA on the future of Otto Addo and we will arrive at a common ground and we will know whether he will stay or leave,” he told Asempa FM.

“We didn’t qualify for the AFCON but we plan to qualify for the World Cup, and so we will engage the GFA to know if Otto Addo is the right person for the team going forward.

“I have heard all the complaints of Ghanaians but we will engage the GFA. I believe that we cannot do the same thing and expect a different result,” he added.

Meanwhile, John Paintsil and Fatau Dauda have been retained as part of the technical team.
