The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams on Monday met with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to discuss stadium security and measures to curb hooliganism at league venues.

This marks Adams’ first meeting with the GFA since his appointment by President John Mahama. The session brought together key officials, including GFA General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo, members of the Executive Council, and representatives from the Safety and Security Committee.

Discussions focused on re-evaluating stadium venues, improving collaboration between security committees and the National Sports Authority, and implementing enhanced safety measures on matchdays.

This follows the death of popular Kotoko fan Nana Yaw Frimpong, aka Nana Pooley during a Ghana Premier League match between Nsoatreman and Kotoko in Nsoatre. The league has since been suspended.

The Minister assured stakeholders of his commitment to ensuring a safe and conducive environment for football in Ghana.
