Former Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Wilfred Osei Kweku Palmer, has called on newly appointed Sports and Recreational Minister, Kofi Adams, to closely monitor every Black Stars squad selection.
Kofi Adams was officially sworn into office on Friday, February 7, at the Jubilee House. Over the years, there have been allegations of undue influence in player selections for the national team, with claims that certain players are imposed on coaches.
Speaking in an interview, Osei Kweku urged the Buem MP to take a keen interest in the players chosen for national duty.
He advised the new minister to appoint a technical expert who can guide him in understanding key aspects of team selection at the Black Stars level.
“I have known Kofi Adams for some time now. He is mostly quiet but you wouldn’t want to push him and so I am sure that he will deliver as Sports Minister,” he told Sporty FM.
He continued, “Kofi Adams must scrutinise every call up to the Black Stars. I know he is not a technical person but he must get someone to assist him technically to be able to understand these things,” he added.
Meanwhile, on his first day in office, Kofi Adams held discussions with the leadership of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Monday, February 10.
The Black Stars are set to regroup next month for Matchday five and six of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
