Asante Kotoko striker Kwame Opoku is eyeing a quick return to the Black Stars after a brilliant start at Asante Kotoko.
After stints in Algeria and Morocco, Opoku has returned to his former side on a two and half year deal.
His fine performance earned him a call-up to the senior national team when CK Akonnor was in charge as head coach.
Since his return, Opoku has scored five goals in four games for the Porcupine Warriors.
However, in an interview with Asempa FM, the former USM Alger forward reflected on his previous experience with the Black Stars.
He admitted he had more to contribute during his first stint but emphasized his readiness to give his best if called up again.
“I believe that during my first time with the Black Stars, I had more to offer, but maybe it wasn’t the right time. Now, I’ll make sure to improve my game, and if I’m called up again, I’m ready to give my best to the national team,” Opoku said.
The striker also praised the fans of Asante Kotoko for their warm reception upon his return and acknowledged the club’s superiority in Ghanaian football.
“Without a doubt, Asante Kotoko is the biggest club in Ghana. Its supporters are unmatched in size and passion—no one can rival the phenomenal fan base of the Porcupine Warriors,” he added.
