Norwich City head coach Johannes Hoff Thorup has expressed hope that the injury sustained by Ghanaian midfielder Forson Amankwah is not serious.

Amankwah was substituted at halftime in Norwich’s FA Cup third-round match against Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion over the weekend. Kellen Fisher replaced the 20-year-old after he picked up a knee injury during the game, which ended in a defeat for Norwich.

Speaking to the club’s official website after the match, Thorup shared an update on Amankwah’s condition: “Forson (Amankwah) had some contact to his knee, so hopefully it’s not too serious. We’ll have to wait and see.”

Amankwah has been in impressive form recently. Two weeks ago, he came off the bench to score a match-winning brace in Norwich’s 2-1 victory over Coventry City in the Championship.

The game against Brighton marked Amankwah’s first start for the club, and he has contributed two goals and two assists in 18 appearances across all competitions this season.

Norwich will aim to bounce back when they face Sheffield United on Saturday, January 18.
