The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has issued strict sanctions for clubs that fail to comply with the Enhanced Matchday Safety and Security Protocols 2025, warning that fines and venue bans will be enforced without exception.

Under the new rules, clubs are required to:

Appoint a Club Safety and Security Officer (CSSO)

Ensure police presence at stadiums at least four hours before kickoff

Segregate home and away supporters

Screen spectators at entry points to prevent prohibited items

Failure to meet these requirements will result in GH₵20,000 fines for first-time offenses, increasing to GH₵100,000 and stadium bans for repeat offenders.

In its statement, the GFA declared:

“The promulgation of the Enhanced Matchday Safety and Security Protocols 2025 is only a first step in ensuring safe security at matches. Strict adherence and enforcement will follow.”

The new measures also require clubs to sign undertakings pledging full cooperation with the police in identifying and prosecuting supporters involved in violent conduct.
