John Mahama, Ghana’s newly elected president, outlined an ambitious plan to revolutionize the country’s sports infrastructure and development.
As part of his manifesto, Mahama committed to building state-of-the-art sports stadiums in every region of Ghana, a move aimed at fostering a nationwide sporting culture and providing better facilities for athletes.
One of the key promises in his sports agenda is the construction of international standard stadia across all regions of the country. Additionally, Mahama’s government plans to refurbish existing facilities that have fallen short of the necessary standards, particularly national stadiums in Accra, Kumasi, Tamale, Cape Coast, and Sekondi. Furthermore, Mahama has pledged to introduce a special package to support retired athletes, helping them transition into other sports-related careers after their active years.
