
Former Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah will guide Sudan in a daunting Group E at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
Drawn alongside Algeria, Equatorial Guinea, and Burkina Faso, Appiah, who orchestrated Sudan’s qualification at Ghana’s expense, will aim to defy the odds and secure a spot in the knockout stages.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles, chasing a fourth AFCON title, are placed in Group C with Tunisia, Uganda, and Tanzania. Having fallen short in the 2023 final against Côte d’Ivoire, they will look to make amends. Côte d’Ivoire, the reigning champions, headline Group B with Cameroon, Gabon, and Mozambique.
Hosts Morocco, hosting the tournament for the first time since 1988, are seen as strong contenders after their remarkable run to the semifinals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The Atlas Lions will compete in Group A alongside Mali, Zambia, and Comoros.
In Group D, Botswana, making only their second AFCON appearance since 2012, face a tough challenge against 2021 champions Senegal, DR Congo, and Angola.

The 2025 AFCON will run from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026, offering an exciting stage for Africa’s best teams to vie for continental supremacy.
