Ghana’s Minister for Sports and Recreation-designate, Kofi Adams, has revealed an ambitious plan to revamp the Winneba Sports College and implement financial incentives aimed at keeping top talent in the Ghana Premier League (GPL).
During his vetting, Adams emphasized the critical need for improved technical development and player retention to elevate Ghana’s domestic football standards.
“We have talked about things that confront our Premier League. We will modernize the Winneba Sports College so that coaches will be trained there to help the league technically,” he stated.
The Winneba Sports College, Ghana’s premier institution for coaching and sports education, has long been in need of infrastructure upgrades and a revamped curriculum to meet global football standards.
Adams also tackled the issue of player retention, recognizing that many of Ghana’s top footballers are lured overseas by more lucrative offers.
