{"id":923,"date":"2024-08-02T02:19:02","date_gmt":"2024-08-02T02:19:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sbmediaonline.com\/?p=923"},"modified":"2024-08-02T02:19:02","modified_gmt":"2024-08-02T02:19:02","slug":"retired-pastor-found-dead-in-suspected-suicide-at-home-body-hanging-from-mango-tree","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sbmediaonline.com\/?p=923","title":{"rendered":"Retired pastor found dead in suspected suicide at home, body hanging from mango tree&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"488\" src=\"https:\/\/uwordpressmedia.blob.core.windows.net\/uwordpressmedia01\/2024\/08\/image_2024-08-01_012021530-696x488-1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-924\" srcset=\"https:\/\/uwordpressmedia.blob.core.windows.net\/uwordpressmedia01\/2024\/08\/image_2024-08-01_012021530-696x488-1.png 696w, https:\/\/uwordpressmedia.blob.core.windows.net\/uwordpressmedia01\/2024\/08\/image_2024-08-01_012021530-696x488-1-300x210.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Pastor Michael Ahiago, a retired pastor of the New Covenant Apostolic Church, is alleged to have committed suicide by hanging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The deceased, believed to be in his early 70s and father of five, was discovered hanging on a mango tree in front of his house Wednesday morning at about 5:30am.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mrs Beatrice Ahiago, the widow, who briefed the Ghana News Agency (GNA), explained that her husband left home unnoticed at dawn, while she was preparing porridge for sale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She revealed that he was at home with the family before the unexpected act without any suspected sign of depression when they all retired to bed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI got up this dawn to prepare my porridge for sale without having any knowledge of my husband\u2019s departure from home until we were told of the incident,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Apostle Paul Gidigasu, the General Secretary of the Apostolic Vision Church International, who rushed to the scene, said Ahiago, until his demise, was an active member of the Akatsi Senior Ministers Association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He, however, did not establish what led to the tragic incident, adding: \u201cWe are encouraging the widow and the family to be strong in the Lord in these difficult times.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The GNA, at the time of visiting the crime scene, saw scores of residents including church members, chiefs, and pastors converging in the deceased\u2019s house to catch a glimpse of what happened.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pastor Michael Ahiago, a retired pastor of the New Covenant Apostolic Church, is alleged to have committed suicide by hanging.
