{"id":5027,"date":"2024-09-06T20:49:51","date_gmt":"2024-09-06T20:49:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sbmediaonline.com\/?p=5027"},"modified":"2024-09-06T20:49:52","modified_gmt":"2024-09-06T20:49:52","slug":"embattled-ucc-vc-appeals-to-asantehene-for-intervention-in-leadership-dispute","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sbmediaonline.com\/?p=5027","title":{"rendered":"Embattled UCC VC appeals to Asantehene for intervention in leadership dispute"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"600\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/uwordpressmedia.blob.core.windows.net\/uwordpressmedia01\/2024\/09\/63234617.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5028\" srcset=\"https:\/\/uwordpressmedia.blob.core.windows.net\/uwordpressmedia01\/2024\/09\/63234617.jpg 600w, https:\/\/uwordpressmedia.blob.core.windows.net\/uwordpressmedia01\/2024\/09\/63234617-300x180.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The embattled Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Prof. Johnson Nyarko Boampong, is seeking the support of the Asantehene to resolve the institution\u2019s recent leadership crisis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This week, the&nbsp;Cape Coast High Court granted an injunction&nbsp;against the Vice-Chancellor filed by John Mevemeo, a resident of Millennium City-Kasoa in the Central Region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The court\u2019s decision restrains Prof. Nyarko Boampong from acting as Vice-Chancellor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This follows the university\u2019s decision to renew Prof. Nyarko Boampong\u2019s appointment until July 31, 2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Subsequently, lawyers for the embattled VC filed for a stay of execution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Addressing a special congregation to confer a doctorate on the Asantehene, the Vice-Chancellor called for Otumfuo\u2019s intervention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prof. Nyarko Boampong said the current injunction was damaging the management of the university and appealed to the Asantehene to intervene before it\u2019s too late.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSuch actions driven by external pressures risk running us down into an era of confusion in this country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt is at this critical venture that we turn to your leadership, your majesty.
