{"id":3358,"date":"2024-08-23T01:23:10","date_gmt":"2024-08-23T01:23:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sbmediaonline.com\/?p=3358"},"modified":"2024-08-23T01:23:11","modified_gmt":"2024-08-23T01:23:11","slug":"kurl-songx-reveals-meeting-with-krobo-elders-to-resolve-issues-surrounding-jennifer-lomotey-song","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sbmediaonline.com\/?p=3358","title":{"rendered":"Kurl Songx reveals meeting with Krobo elders to resolve issues surrounding &#8216;Jennifer Lomotey&#8217; song.&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"199\" src=\"https:\/\/uwordpressmedia.blob.core.windows.net\/uwordpressmedia01\/2024\/08\/68425762.295.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3359\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Ghanaian artiste Kurl Songx has shed light on the controversy surrounding Sarkodie&#8217;s verse in his 2017 song, \u2018Jennifer Lomotey\u2019.<br><br>In an interview on Onua FM on August 21, 2024, Kurl Songx revealed that some Krobo chiefs and elders were upset by Sarkodie&#8217;s lyrics, which referenced a folklore about Krobo women and promiscuity.<br><br>The contentious verse, which translates to &#8220;A beautiful Krobo lady with beads on her waist, she has been cursed with promiscuity by Komfo Anokye,&#8221; sparked anger among the Krobo community.<br><br>To address the issue, Kurl Songx, along with Sarkodie&#8217;s late lawyer and his manager, met with Krobo elders to resolve the matter peacefully.<br><br>\u201cI got to understand that it\u2019s part of the work. We met them and solved it amicably. Together with Sarkodie\u2019s late lawyer, my manager and I talked about it. We met I think in East Legon and we explained to them that this is not personal, it&#8217;s art,\u201d he narrated.<br><br>Kurl Songx explained that the lyrics were not meant to offend but were part of artistic expression.<br><br>\u201cThanks to them, somebody else would not have understood because it was very sensitive. Sarkodie\u2019s words were art, not to just tarnish someone\u2019s image,\u201d he added.<br><br>The controversial song lyrics sparked trouble for Sarkodie. In 2024, a group calling itself the New Ghana Social Justice Forum, petitioned the French National Olympic and Sports Committee to exclude rapper Sarkodie from performing.<br><br>The group claimed that Sarkodie is &#8220;misogynistic,&#8221; citing lyrics from the song &#8220;Jennifer Lomotey.&#8221;<br><br>They also referenced his recent conflict with actress Yvonne Nelson, who alleged in her memoir that Sarkodie forced her to abort a pregnancy.<br><br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ghanaian artiste Kurl Songx has shed light on the controversy surrounding Sarkodie&#8217;s verse in his 2017 song, \u2018Jennifer Lomotey\u2019.
