I still do my work as a surgeon,\u201d he stated, disclosing his continued involvement in the hospital\u2019s day-to-day operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He made this known in an interview on Asempa FM\u2019s&nbsp;<strong>Ekosii Sen<\/strong>&nbsp;programme, Thursday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a plastic surgeon, Dr. Ampomah explained that he continues to practice because the number of consultants in plastic surgery is limited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe run a postgraduate program, and we need people of a certain calibre to be on board and help, so I contribute in various instances,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He stressed the importance of being hands-on as a leader.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIf you sit at the top as just a leader for others to come and tell you what to do, then you don\u2019t know what you want. Going to the grounds helps you understand the challenges and everything happening,\u201d Dr. Ampomah stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Acknowledging the hospital\u2019s challenges, he accepted that not all patients receive the best care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are working hard to improve on that,\u201d he assured. He also highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance intensive care capabilities at Korle-Bu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Ampomah believes in leading by example by assisting colleagues in other institutions when they face challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI need to show that I am one of them.
