{"id":14630,"date":"2025-06-29T15:42:29","date_gmt":"2025-06-29T15:42:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sbmediaonline.com\/?p=14630"},"modified":"2025-06-29T15:42:29","modified_gmt":"2025-06-29T15:42:29","slug":"52-year-old-man-drowns-in-well-at-akyem-morso","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sbmediaonline.com\/?p=14630","title":{"rendered":"52-Year-Old Man Drowns in Well at Akyem Morso"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"463\" src=\"https:\/\/uwordpressmedia.blob.core.windows.net\/uwordpressmedia01\/2025\/06\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-06-28-at-11.57.35-696x463-1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-14631\" srcset=\"https:\/\/uwordpressmedia.blob.core.windows.net\/uwordpressmedia01\/2025\/06\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-06-28-at-11.57.35-696x463-1.jpeg 696w, https:\/\/uwordpressmedia.blob.core.windows.net\/uwordpressmedia01\/2025\/06\/WhatsApp-Image-2025-06-28-at-11.57.35-696x463-1-300x200.jpeg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>A 52-year-old man, Atta Boateng, has drowned in a well at Asante Akyem Morso in the Asante Akyem South Municipality of the Ashanti region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Assemblyman for Morso, Ransford Asante, confirmed the incident to Adom News, stating it occurred around 6:30 am on Saturday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to him, Mr. Boateng had gone to retrieve a water pump from the well, unaware that it had been removed for the past four years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mr. Asante explained that the well, approximately 300 metres deep, had remained unused for a long time, and the intense heat inside likely weakened the deceased.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unable to climb out on his own, a rescue attempt by bystanders using a rope failed when it snapped, causing him to drown.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Traditional authorities performed customary rites, including the pouring of libation, before the body was retrieved by personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service and NADMO.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Municipal Chief Executive(MCE), Maame Sarfoa Appiah has visited the community to commiserate with the bereaved family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The body of the deceased has has been deposited at the Yawkwei Steward Hospital Mortuary.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A 52-year-old man, Atta Boateng, has drowned in a well at Asante Akyem Morso in the Asante Akyem South Municipality of the Ashanti region.
