
Gifty Acheampong’s solitary goal gave newly-promoted Nita FC a 1-0 win at HOPS FC in the Indian Women’s League at the weekend.
Acheampong hit the back of the net in the 80th minute to secure the points on Saturday.
She made the best use of a long ball and got the better of goalkeeper Priti Sarkar and captain Mamta before flicking the ball in.
In the first half, Gifty came close to scoring when she powerful long drive was parried over the post the HOPS goalkeeper.
HOPS came close to scoring in the 55th minute but Gladys Amfobea, another Ghanaian import, saw her shot fly over the frame.
Two minutes later, Gladys shot from outside the box but her attempt was saved by the Nita goalkeeper Sasmita Parida.
