Ghana defender Alidu Seidu suffered a serious injury during Stade Rennais’ Ligue 1 clash against Lille on Sunday evening.
The Black Stars right-back was replaced after just 17 minutes after landing awkwardly, rupturing the cruciate ligaments in his left knee.
After several minutes of treatment on the pitch, Senegalese defender Mikayil Faye replaced the Ghanaian, who was later spotted in crutches.
Seidu will undergo a scan on Monday to determine the extent of his injury and how long he will be out.
“I can’t diagnose; we will do tests tomorrow,” said Rennais manager Jorge Sampaoli.
Meanwhile, Edon Zhegrova’s first-half strike secured all three points for Lille at Decathlon Arena-Stade Pierre-Mauroy.
Seidu joined Rennais in January 2024 and has been a key figure for the Red and Blacks this season, claiming the September Player of the Month award.
The 24-year-old missed Ghana’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Niger to an injury.
