Ghana coach, Otto Addo believes the country’s top-flight league is gradually gaining an interest after watching a recent match.
The 45-year-old watched Medeama defeat Legon Cities 1-0 at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon on Saturday.
Speaking to the media after the game, Addo said, “This is my first season [observing the league closely]. At the end of the last season, I watched a little bit of videos; it was okay in general.
“I think it’s picking up, it’s getting more interesting, and we have to see. I think it’s early; it’s now early [to make an assessment]. Let’s watch the season and see how the players perform. I think the performance, in general, is going up. When I compare it to two years ago, it has improved.”
Addo is scouting players ahead of crucial games against Kwesi Appiah’s Sudan next month.
He could include more home-based players this time after inviting only Kotoko goalkeeper Frederick Asare in his last call-up for the defeat against Angola and draw with Niger in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
