A tragic incident unfolded at Ehyireso Junction Park in the Prestea Huni Valley Municipality of the Western Region on Monday, November 18, 2024. Appiah Kwasi, a 23-year-old, was fatally stabbed with scissors during a school gala competition between Ehyireso Methodist JHS and Bepoh D/A JHS.
Dispute Over Penalty Leads to Violence
The altercation began when a penalty infringement was awarded to Bepoh D/A JHS, equalizing the score to 1-1 in the second half. Ehyireso Methodist JHS ultimately won the match in a penalty shootout. However, tensions boiled over, and a brawl erupted between supporters of the two schools.
Scissors Stabbing Leaves One Dead
According to eyewitnesses, D-Black, a suspect from the Bepoh community, allegedly stabbed Appiah Kwasi multiple times with scissors during the melee. The victim was rushed to Ehyireso Nkwanta Health Centre and later transferred to Bogoso Municipal Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Police Arrest Prime Suspect and Accomplices
The Prestea Huni Valley Municipal Police Command has taken D-Black and his accomplices into custody and commenced investigations into the incident. The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Bogoso Municipal Morgue for preservation and autopsy.
