Wasa Japa, Wasa Amenfi East – The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has engaged residents of Wasa Japa in the Wasa Amenfi East Municipality on best practices for responsible and sustainable small-scale mining.
The community engagement, which brought together miners, opinion leaders, and local residents, aimed to raise awareness about the environmental impacts of illegal and improper mining activities. Officials from the EPA emphasized the importance of adhering to environmental regulations and using environmentally friendly mining methods.
According to EPA representatives, the agency remains committed to working closely with communities to promote legal, regulated, and responsible mining practices that protect water bodies, farmlands, and forest reserves.
Residents welcomed the initiative, noting that it would help improve knowledge among local miners and reduce the negative effects of unregulated mining in the area.
The EPA assured stakeholders that similar outreach programs would be extended to other mining communities across the country.
