Assistant Black Stars coach Desmond Ofei has assured that the playing body and technical team are determined to turn around the fortunes of the team.

The senior national team has come under intense criticism following their recent horrendous performances. The team, for the first time in two decades, failed to qualify for the AFCON tournament, which will be held in Morocco later this year.

Following the team’s failure, Ofei, 37, has been drafted into the technical team ahead of the resumption of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Ahead of the games against Chad and Madagascar, the Black Satellites head trainer believes everyone is ready to get the national team back to where it belongs, and that can only be achieved through collective work.

“As we all know, it was a painful moment for us not to qualify for the AFCON this year in Morocco. But we’ve learnt a lot from the mistakes on and off the pitch, and we feel like we are very hungry to try and rectify the situation,” he told the GFA Media team.

“Once again, it’s still hard work and through working together. We are willing to work really hard to rectify those mistakes.”

He continued, “I think we have to look at ourselves first because we have enough quality in the squad to make sure we perform on a day.

“We want to also make the Ghanaian fans very proud of us, so it’s very important that we give a really good performance against Chad at home. We are going to fight, and it’s going to be a final.

“For us, I think it’s very important to make sure that this window is wrapped up very positively and make sure that the Ghanaian fans are very happy with us,” he added.

The Black Stars will take on Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday, March 21, at 19:00 GMT. They will then travel to Morocco for a clash against Madagascar at the Grand Stade d’Al Hoceima on Monday, March 24, all in the Matchday five and six games.
