In-form Bournemouth attacker Antoine Semenyo has vowed not to turn his back to the Black Stars of Ghana, saying it’s an honour to represent his native country.
The 27-year-old Ghanaian forward has established himself as a key member of the national team since making his debut in June 2022. Semenyo has racked up 21 appearances for the West African powerhouse, scoring three goals across the period.
The former Bristol City star was involved when the Black Stars recorded a back-to-back wins in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, restoring national pride following 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualification setback.
“I feel that anything that will stop me from the national team is obviously injury. I will always avail myself. I always want to play for the nation. It’s being a dream to play for the national team and it an honour to represent the country as well.” he told JoySports.
Semenyo was on target when the Black Stars walloped Chad 5-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium and also played a part in the teams resounding victory against Madagascar on the fifth and sixth rounds of the qualifiers.
The forward, who is a subject of interest, has rejoined his club Bournemouth in England as the team gear up for the weekend fixture.
The Black Stars will regroup for the continuation of the World Cup qualifiers in September 2025.
