The Wassa Amenfi West Municipal Asseembly is paying dearly for the non election of a Presiding Member due to unbridled partisan politics amongst its Assembly members who have failed to elect a substantive Presiding Member since the closure of the last Asseembly.
As a result, all committees of the Amenfi West Municipal Asseembly are malfunctioning and authorities fear this unfortunate situation would deny the assembly the passage of the DPAT Test and cause it to lose huge development funds.
Tongues are wagging amongst the electorates and stakeholders who fear that the continuous non election of a Presiding Member for Amenfi West would have dire consequences on the Municipal’s total development. As it stands now, MCE Hon. Dr..Lord Nana Tandoh cannot spend a certain amount of development funds and communities are complaining.
The Municipal Coordinating Director, Heads of departments and MP Hon. Dr. Eric Afful are equally worried at the absence of a Presiding Member at the Amenfi West Municipal Asseembly. This writer has done serious of talk programs on radio and made several advocacies on the need for a Presiding Member for Amenfi West, but to no avail.
With election 2024 approaching, if the Amenfi West Municipal Asseembly fails to elect a Presiding Member by August 15, 2024, it risks forfeiting the DPAT Test and its accompanying development funds. Stakeholders must act now.
