Amenfi Central, 30th October 2024 — The Amenfi Central branch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) staged a peaceful walk to the Electoral Commission (EC) office today, voicing their concerns over the recent disqualification of Joana Gyan Cudjoe from the upcoming elections.

The demonstration, which saw a large turnout of party members and supporters, aimed to formally petition the EC regarding what they described as an unjust decision. Party officials and supporters carried placards with slogans demanding fairness and transparency in the electoral process.

In a statement to the press, the NDC’s Amenfi Central constituency chairman emphasized the importance of inclusivity and fair representation in the elections. “We believe that Joana Gyan Cudjoe has met all necessary requirements to contest. This disqualification undermines our democratic principles,” he asserted.

The NDC’s petition outlines specific grievances related to the disqualification process, urging the EC to reconsider its decision and uphold the democratic rights of all candidates.

As the peaceful walk concluded, participants expressed hope that their voices would lead to a positive outcome for Gyan Cudjoe and for the electoral integrity of the region. The NDC has vowed to continue advocating for justice and fairness as the elections approach.

The EC has yet to respond to the petition, and the political landscape in Amenfi Central remains charged as supporters rally around Gyan Cudjoe’s candidacy.
