The owner and bankroller of King Faisal, Alhaji Karim ‘Grusah’, has expressed doubts about the newly appointed Black Stars Management Committee, naming only Dr Randy Abbey and Moses Armah as capable of delivering results.

Following Ghana’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) for the first time in two decades, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) announced a new five-member committee to oversee the national team.

Dr. Randy Abbey will serve as Chairman, with former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah as Vice Chairman, who will also handle player relations. Matchday operations will be managed by Samuel Aboabire and Moses Armah, while Dr. Richard Nsenkyire has been assigned special duties related to the team.

However, in an interview with Onua FM, Alhaji Grusah expressed skepticism about most of the appointees, stating that only Dr. Abbey and Moses Armah have the experience and ability to succeed in their roles.

“When Randy Abbey was at Hearts of Oak, he didn’t like defeat. That was where he made his name,” he said.

“When he joined the Ghana Football Association, he stated his mind as it is because he has it all.”

He also praised Randy Abbey’s leadership at Heart of Lions, crediting him for guiding the club back to the Ghana Premier League. Additionally, Grunsah commended Moses Armah, the owner of Medeama SC, describing him as exceptional.

However, Grunsah was less optimistic about the other members. While acknowledging Stephen Appiah’s commitment as a player, he criticized him for withdrawing from the previous Black Stars management committee and failing to attend meetings.

Regarding FC Samartex President Dr. Richard Nsenkyire, Grunsah argued that winning the Ghana Premier League does not necessarily translate into success at the national team level.

“Is this a proper league that you can’t win away but only your home games? I can only give him the benefit of the doubt because I don’t know what he has done in addition to that.

“I was in the same zone with him in Division One and he knows me and I know him. What he has to know is that the Black Stars is not that you can intimidate opponents with your supporters.”

As for Samuel Aboabire, the Greater Accra Regional FA Chairman, Grunsah was blunt in his assessment: “He can’t do anything. He is my kid.”

With Ghana’s AFCON qualification setback still fresh, Grunsah’s comments add to the growing debate over whether the newly appointed committee can steer the Black Stars back to glory.
